Joseph Marshak (1854-1918), one of Faberge's competitors, was a prominent jeweler in Imperial Russia. The firm is known today as Marchak (Paris).
The cufflinks are marked with 56 zolotnik old Russian gold standard (14K) / Kiev assay office, maker's initials 'IM' for Joseph Marshak and original Marshak's inventory number ' 3100 '
