Paved rhinestone purse compact cigarette vanity case. Multi compartments were the name of the game for the Art Deco vanity case. They went along with the ladies as an evening bag, filled with the necessities of the times. The metal mirror, which has some spots about an inch long, is made to flip open to the cigarette compartment. Beside it is a space for a thin lighter, or a lipstick caddie, depending the women's needs. On the other side of the purse there is a powder compact with its original powder puff that doesn't look like it had been used. This sets up enough off the purse frame for a shallow space behind that would hold a hanky as well as its original celluloid comb.
This vintage vanity purse compact is from the 1920s. It has fifteen rows of 27 hand-set, pronged rhinestone crystals that are bright and sparkling. Measures approximately 5.25 inches long by 3 inches wide, and 1 inch thick. The purse hangs 5 inches by a snake chain. This compact is not marked by the manufacturer. There are some scuffs on the back side that can be seen in the light, as well as an area where the finish is worn. Front is in perfect condition.
