Cat fish jelly belly bowl rare sterling brooch Designer Antonio Aquilino 1946. This cat is sitting on a pillow of aqua square cut rhinestones. The tabletop and rim of the jelly belly fish bowl are accented with clear rhinestones. The brooch is 2-5/8 inches across, is marked sterling, and has a vermeil gold finish that is untouched by age. The bowl holds a goldfish, and the cat is definitely not going after it like my cat would - she ate a full aquarium of them in one night. Good catch! Brunialti, American Costume Jewelry - Art and Industry (2008) Vol 2, p. 222. Designer Antonio Aquilino, dated 1946-7
Though manufactured in the 1940s, this brooch has a rich Art Deco look to it. Any of you that own the $100 encyclopedia by Brunialti know that only the best of the best are featured there, and this rare piece is of coarse included.
