Dangle filigree brooch with faux tortoise shell turquoise and coral. This was not only difficult to photograph with the varying layers reacting differently to lighting, but it was a process of elimination to figure out what era it was made. With the roll over clasp, it is not Victorian; so it has to be from the Victorian revival period, probably between the late 1920s and mid 1930s.
It measures 3.75 inches long and 2-1/16 across the top half. The backing has the same work as pieces made in China, but without any markings. There is a very thin translucent layer of tortoise, then punched out and curved metal findings with a flower, leaf and wheat motif. That is topped with rows of blue turquoise beads and a center coral cabochon. This is a fabulous brooch. The only noticeable flaw is some discoloration on the back where the finish has worn away.
