Swivel Victorian mourning brooch large unused rolled gold. The yellow rolled gold frame has bead work around the outer edge which also curls up to the etched grape leaves. This is an exceptionally large brooch measuring 2.5 inched across the narrower width with the pin sticking out even further. There is a ring at the top where it would also be possible to use it as a pendent. Once the pin back is open, the glass center easily flips from front to back. The front, where a photo would go is also special with an etched inner frame that looks like it may be solid gold. The glass that would normally cover the compartment where a locket of hair would go is missing. Center photo/hair locket area is one half inch wide. Circa 1860s
