Antique 14kt gold bracelet and precious opal is predominately blue-green with flashes of fire pink. It measures 2-3/16 inches across the inside width. Band is etched and opens wide with a hinge. Closure has a security lock with push button opening. The opals are all prong set. This is a gorgeous opal bracelet that is scarce, and the extra ordinary coloring was very rare at the time it was made. Bracelet is not marked, tests positive as 14 kt gold. The opal was one of Queen Victoria's favorite stones. She gave opal jewelry to her daughters as wedding gifts. This was the start of a new era in opal jewelry that has prevailed, and even increased to this day.
There is a flaw in the center stone where it has a chip off the top. At the right angle it makes it look like it is cracked as I tried to show in all photos. Our jeweler took a look at it and he recommended leaving it alone. He said it is not cracked through, and is holding tight with no need to replace it. In real life it doesn't even show unless holding it to the light. Oh yes, one more 'flaw'; someone scratch the inside to test whether it was solid gold (see last photo added).
