10kt gold Victorian wedding crossover bracelet set in Etruscan style.
Rare to find these Victorian crossover bracelets in sets, but even rarer to find them in gold, as most were gold-filled. This set of Victorian crossover bangles are in the Etruscan style with the intricate ends made of brass. The bracelets themselves are 10k gold (tested and verified by jeweler). They easily open and close like a clip on a purse. They measure 2 inches across the center. Circa: mid 1800 Victorian Grand Period.
It's hard to find information on crossover bracelets, but I did read once that they were used in place of wedding rings, which may have been the case at the beginning of their invention. They normally have rings attached, as these do, where a chain would link them together. I couldn't find anything on just how they were used in this way, whether one was given at the time of engagement and the other during the wedding ceremony or what. I have also read that they were sometimes made for children.
