Monster Serpents Tongue flower brooch Reja 1941 rhodium gold curled leaves. Large brooch is rhodium-plated at the back and gold-plated at the front of a serpent's tongue, a type of fern, the inside of which resembles a snake's tongue. It measures 4.75 inches tall by 2.5 inches and weighs 2.7oz. I cannot make out the Reja signature on our brooch, but that is not uncommon for this manufacturer, as I have one of their pieces in my own collection that barely has half of two of the letters. It is pictured in Schiffer's American Costume Jewelry by Roberto Brunialti, showing the best of the best.
Condition: Good; center roll on closure is missing, but the pin is so tight in the socket there is no chance of it falling off. There are a few darkened stones and I just noticed after retaking some photos to include the book view that the leaf and stem have separated at the bottom.
