Mahogany Hepplewhite Desk with Marquetry and Mother of Pearl. Two small drawers are on either side of a beveled mirror. One reason for the mirror was a candle would offer more light when reflected in the mirror. There are two drawers on either side of the writing surface and one bowed drawer which locks in the middle. Marquetry Bellflowers adorn the center drawer and each side of the desk. All drawers, legs and sides are outlined in line inlay. The desk is supported by four tapered legs ending in wooden castors. The beautiful deep dark mahogany finish is all original and in perfect condition dating to 1890 with the following measurements: 38 5/8” High x 42 ¼” Wide x 24 ½” Depth.
