These beautiful small tumblers have sterling silver bases in an intricate open basketweave design. The cut glass inserts are each hand cut with 3 stars and have their original fire polished rims. All of the sterling bases are marked, “Sterling” on the base, with the mark of ‘Mayo and Co., of Chicago, IL. According to Rainwater, they were in business starting in 1896 and out of business by 1904. Joseph Mayo was a silversmith as well as a manufacturer.
There is no damage. One of the glass inserts sits about 1/8” off the bottom of the sterling base, but this isn’t really perceptible and doesn’t affect the utility
Measure about 4 1/8” high. Sterling bases are 1 5/8” high x 2 1/4” in diameter across the top. Glasses are 2 3/4” across the top.
