This Miriam Haskell vintage brooch a beautiful design with 7 strands of dangling baroque pearls at the bottom. The upper section has a single baroque pearl set with small rhinestones arranged like the sun’s rays on gilt stalks of differing heights and angles. The mid-section has gilt leaves interspersed with larger rhinestones again set on the stalks.
These dangling strands are all different lengths and made of small baroque pearls with faceted metal spacers in between and the large pearl at the end. The front elements of the brooch are secured to the filigree back piece with hand wound wires. The pin clasp works well and I don’t see any problems.
The filigree back has the early horseshoe logo with “Miriam Haskell” in raised letters inside a crescent used from the late 1940’s. I bought this brooch a number of years ago at the estate sale of an elderly person. This piece is a beautiful example of Miriam Haskell decorative elegance and fine craftsmanship.
Condition: Overall for age, very good to great. However, there are some minor dings to the nacre of the pearls and one pearl has a thin, 1/8” scratch I can see with my naked eye. There is also some oxidation to the gilt on some of the metal edges and on one spot on the back by the Haskell logo.
Measures approximately 2 3/8” at the longest x 2 1/4” at the widest when laid flat. The dangles move!
