This is an absolutely fabulous rare set of fine crystal made by Stevens & Williams; in excellent condition. They were appointed as the Royal British Glassmaker twice. They opened their doors as Stevens & Williams Glassworks and operated as such from 1847-1930's. They made cut flint (crystal) glass. The name Royal Brierley Crystal was used for some of the company's glass from 1919 onwards, the date when George 5th awarded them a Royal Warrant.
This set includes twelve each of the following: In tumblers there is a Large Ice Tea Glasses (Height 5 7/8”, Width of top rim 3 ½”, Holds 16 ounces of liquid), Old Fashion Glasses (H = 4 1/8”; W = 3”; Holds 8 ounces), and Small Tumblers (H = 3 ½”; W = 2 5/8”; Holds 6 ounces). In stemmed glassware there is a Large Goblet (H = 5 ½”; W = 3 1/8”; Holds 8 ounces) and Desert Wine Glasses (H = 4 5/8”; W = 2 5/8”; Holds 2 ounces). There is a sixth glass set, but regrettably only ten pieces exist. They are Claret Glass (H = 5”; W = 2 ½”; Holds 5 ounces).
There is also twelve soup bowls, eleven of which measures (H = 2 ½”; W = 4 5/8”; Holds 10 ounces) and one which is slightly larger (H = 2 3/8”; W = 5”; Holds 12 ounces). It is rather difficult to spot the different one; only if you have all twelve bowls together and are looking for it will you notice the difference. There is also twelve salad plates (H = 1 1/8”; W = 6 ½”).
This set also includes two Claret Bottles with stoppers (H = 8 ¼”; Circumference = 17 ¾”; Holds 28 ounces); two Water Bottles or vases (H = 7”; Circumference = 17”; Holds 32 ounces), and one Pitcher (H = 9 ¾”; Width = 3”; Holds 48 ounces).
The pattern number is SWL14, and it is simply beautiful. Each piece is covered in cut floral design on panels. I am limited to only having nine photographs (for one item) in my shop, but please feel free to contact me to see additional photographs of each of these items. I have plenty of photos of each of them and would be happy to send them to you.
Also, I will add; this set is very heavy; weighing in at approximately 95 pounds. My intent for shipping is to send them in 8 individual boxes. With that, I will be able to use USPS and insure each box separately.
This is quite a find, and an unbelievable set of fine crystal. I have been researching online in order to determine the pricing. I can attest that you won’t find another set like this!
