This superb cup and saucer has a splendid center of a chrysanthemum-type flower in gold and white decor. This is followed with a paneled leafage decoration in gold beyond that, which continues to the rims of both the inside of the cup and the saucer, which are outlined in gold. The outside of the cup, which is ribbed, has a thin gold band encircling the middle, and one on the top of the foot,; the bottom of the foot has a thick gold line .
This fabulous cup and saucer was made by the New Chelsea China Co. LTD of Longton in Staffordshire, England., under the name Royal Chelsea . They used this name from about 1943 to 1961. It is clearly marked on both the cup and saucer along with the pattern number of 226A..
It's an impressive set, and would be a wonderful addition to any cup and saucer collections! The condition is quite good; I see little wearing of the decoration.
