This is a lovely set of dishes that were produced by George Jones & Sons of England. This set includes nine (9) square plates (8 ½ inches), four (4) square plates (7 ½ inches), three (3) square plates (6 3/8 inches), two (2) large round plates (10 ¼ inches); fifteen (15) cups (2 ½ inches) and eighteen (18) saucer; plus the matching sugar bowl.
The mark on the back suggests these pieces were made sometime in-between 1891-1921. The mark, which is in black, includes "England" not "Made in England" which was a requirement in 1921. There is also hand marking, in red, of the pattern number on the back; I believe it to be 27525. A "C" also is written by hand. There also is an impressed mark.
The pattern is called Rhapsody and features a raised molded white floral design on the rim, and has a brightly colored flower medallion in the center. Being on a stunning black background, the white flowers just pop out and look gorgeous. The pieces are in good condition with no chips or cracks, which considering their age is amazing.
