Boy & Rabbit after Sir Henry Raeburn is a superb hand colored mezzo-tint engraving by E. Milner (Eleanor) in England. It is signed in the lower right side, and is dated 1928. It was copyright by Frost & Reed LT of Bristol, England in 1928. The frame, which is gold, measures 25 ¼" x 21 ½" and the artwork's dimensions are 15" x 11 ½". The condition is excellent. Frost & Reed (established in 1808) began fine art publishing around 1881, by producing fine engravings and prints from original works of art. In the early 19th century, original paintings were naturally bought and sold largely among the richer echelons of society. Print publishing was therefore a means by which such companies could broaden the market for a work, thereby improving the income of artists, and at the same time service the increasing demand from a burgeoning middle class.
What appears to be a discoloration on the bottom portion of the frame does not exist in reality. It is either a reflection, or distortion from the added wording of "KC's ANTIQUES & COLLECTIBLES" in the editing process.
This really is a very sweet piece.
