Nathaniel Currier (1813-1888) was an American lithographer who headed the company Currier & Ives with James Ives. Currier was born in Massachusetts, and was apprenticed to the printing firm of the Pendleton's. In 1834 he moved to NYC where he started a new printing business, but the following year he took his business more towards creating pictures of current events.
This is a lovely colored lithograph titled "Mary" who is a lovely maiden. She is sitting in front of a window, with plush curtains behind her. This piece has some light burning on the outside edges; from what I do not know. It is unframed, and aside from this discoloration, it is in good condition. The plate size is 11 ½" x 8".
