This is a sterling WWII "Air Service Command" Distinguished Unit Insignia. It has clutchbacks that are in good working order and it measures approx. 1" from top to bottom. It is signed on the back and reads "LaVelle & Co., Phila PA, Wash DC, Sterling".
The enameled front shows a yellow gear surrounded by a dark blue border with silver stars on it. You can also see the red bullseye center with 3 silver propeller blades. Below is a set of silver eagle wings.
The pin is silver as are each clutchback. Each one is marked "Sterling" and have patent no.'s.
