What a lovely and colorful French inkstand this is! It is hand painted with the bright pinks sometimes used by Marseilles. The floral design is stylized art deco but fits in beautifully with the rococo style of the inkstand. In the mid to late 1800's and beyond, small faience houses made imaginative items to appeal to more modest income families and tourists. The inkstand sits on two legs and there is a small inkpot complete with lid. On the bottom it is marked Imperial, Decor Main, France. The dimensions are: 8-1/2" long, 6" wide, and 2-1/4" high.
The condition is near mint. There is one small chip on the bottom of front leg but it does not show.
