This kind of wild and wacky design by Kenneth Jay Lane tells you why he is so collectible. His designs are unique and he uses good materials and construction in his jewelry. This monkey pin tells a story -- the monkey is climbing a tree with his tail around the tree. At the top of the tree is a butterfly. The monkey's mouth is open as if to eat the butterfly or else talking to it. The pin is a lovely combination of textured gold and rhodium plating. The monkey has a green glass eye and a heavy gold collar. This is a wonderful and fun pin from Lane's whimsical pins of the late 60's. It is signed on the back as K.J.L., in an oval plague, which is the right mark for that time. The back is finished in the gold plating and there is a safety clasp.

The condition is wonderful and I have never seen another one like it!
