A beautiful example of a Gaudy Dutch plate. It is in very good condition for a hand painted plate over 200 years old. There is some paint missing since it was painted over the glaze. There is a chip on the bottom which is not seen from the top. As you can see from the pictures, the plate is in remarkably good condition for its age. It is called sometimes the "Queen's Rose" since it is in pink instead of orange. It is a wonderful example of popular ceramics sent to this country (primarily the Pennsylvania Dutch) around the time of the War of 1812 and after/ The plate measures 8-1/4" and has a number 8 incised on the back.
