This lacy cup plate is a tiny 3' in diameter and was made in the Midwest in the early 1800's. As with other cup plates it served as a coaster for a tea cup. Lacy examples are not as easy to find as ceramic ones. There is a rose and pansy in the center. Only one scallop has a slight chip, other wise the plate is in perfect condition.
It is listed as #149 in the Lee and Rose book "American Cup Plates." These tiny plates made a fun collection to pursue. They are not as plentiful as they once were. They are very decorative hung on the wall in a grouping or used on the table as a small dish for a pat of butter.
