Charming Red Transfer Cup Plate, c. early 1800'sCharming Red Transfer Cup Plate, c. early 1800'sCharming Red Transfer Cup Plate, c. early 1800's

A charming little cup plate of red transfer printing. These cup plates make wonderful displays hanging on the wall as a display or sitting on a table. The were made and used originally in the early to mid 1800's as a coaster for a tea cup. There are flowers in the foreground, which is unusual, and a castle in the background. There is a number on the back and looks like a number 12.

They are a great item to collect, since they are small and inexpensive (most of them.) I bought a collection of both cup and toddy plates, in lacy glass and ceramics.

This darling plate has been used but is in perfect shape. The small bubbles are in the making. I use my cup or toddy plates to hold pins, etc. I also use them for a dinner party or luncheon for a pat of butter. They are very decorative!
