A most unusual single French faience candlestick. The colors used are unusual for early French faience. They are a hand painted medium green and various shades of blue. The feet look like wings and there are leaves, flowers and feathery looking designs. I love the look and colors, as they are so distinctive. The bottom is marked with the work Mosanic and with the numeral 2 underlined. This could be over 100 years old but, since I am not sure, I have labeled it vintage. It is 6" tall and the base is 4-1/2" in diameter. This candlestick is a "charming fellow." I have read that Desvres made pottery for a company named Mosanic.
The condition is great except for small chips to all four corners of the top. Most old faience has some chips.
The chips do not detract from the beauty of the piece.
