This exquisite 12 1/2" tall lady could be used to hold a small plant or flowers as a vase, or simply admired for the art object she is. This was made by Hedi Schoop, who fled Europe in 1933 after studying in several Art Institutes. She opened a pottery studio in Hollywood in 1940, and at her height of production, made over 30,000 giftware items per year. She was widely imitated, did her own designing and modeling, and is now highly collectible. Her studies in sculpture, painting, fashion design, etc. are evident in the artistic renditions of her pieces.
