Considered one of the great American Potteries, Van Briggle Art Pottery was the oldest continuous operating art pottery in the U.S., established in Colorado Springs in 1901 by Artus and Anna Van Briggle. It changed hands several times over the years and closed in 2012. This set of eight 6" high tumblers and matching pitcher 11 1/2" high are from Van Briggles. The set is black with grey around the top rim in a dripping pattern. The tumblers are 2 5/8" across the open top, the pitcher is 7 1/2" across spout and handle. On the pitcher is etched "The Heitzes" and on each tumbler is etched "Jan and Bob". This is a classically beautiful set from a premier pottery. I will combine orders for discount and shipping savings, and have other pottery listed here from well-known potters.
