These two 8 1/4" wide plates depict two scenes from Charles Dickens' much loved classic, A Christmas Carol. These are the first two plates in a series of four, with Dickens' story on them. One plate states: Christmas 1979, the other Christmas 1980. These were made in England, are fine bone china by Aynsley, which was founded in 1775 by John Aynsley in Staffordshire. The company was taken over by Waterford glass in 1970, then was acquired by Belleek Potter group in Ireland in 1997 (what a list of quality names!) and has grown into a well-respected china company that has been commissioned by royalty. The 1979 plate has a picture of Mr. Fezziwig's ball, the 1980 plate shows Marley's ghost and both plates have holly and mistletoe around the border with a gold painted rim. Start a new holiday decoration, and perhaps have fun researching for the other two plates. I have other Christmas plates listed here, and will combine orders for discount and shipping savings.
