This quadruple plated silver plated frame with a pink and white glass basket was originally intended to be a fruit basket, but these proved to be so popular as a wedding gift that they were quickly labeled Bride's Baskets. This piece has a silver plated frame that is 12 1/2" high at the top of the handle, 10 1/2" wide at the handle and has a square shaped base that is 5" square. The dark pink and white glass basket has a round base 3 1/2" across and a square shaped top rim with ruffles that is 7 1/2" square. This was made by Kelley & McBean Company in Niagara Falls, New York, they were a silver novelties company from 1891-1899, They made items of silver, silver plate and the new invention aluminum.
