This 3/4" high, 3/4" wide at the base thimble is for admiration only; don't try to sew with this one! This is cloisonne plicque-a-jour, which stands for "letting in daylight" and is a vitreous enamelling technique whereby enamel is applied in cells similar to cloisonne but with no metal back, so the light shines through the translucent enamel. This is a miniature version of stained glass, and this thimble is a lovely example. Place this on a window sill or in a glass case where the light can shine through, and enjoy the effect. I have two of these, and will combine orders for discount and shipping savings. Gift one to a friend and share the beauty. Please email me with any questions you may have, and thank-you for shopping here at Something Wonderful.
