This 8" wide plate is made by Fenton Art Glass Co, and was the first in a series for churches in America. This plate has "The Little Brown Church in the Vale" in Bradford, Iowa (sometimes called the nation's church) on the front of it, and a border of holly leaves and berries. The color is the blue-green iridescent that proved to be the most popular at the time. On the back of the plate is the quote from William Pitts that is a part of the familiar song. This is a great addition to a carnival glass collection, or a special Christmas plate display. this plate comes with its original display stand, a simple wooden stand reflecting colonial times.
