This bright green glass covered butter dish is 4 1/2" high with lid, 6 1/2" across with a 2 5/6"base. The painted scene on the lid is a dashing young man in his finery, perhaps in a garden. Mary Gregory style refers to Mary Gregory who worked for the Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. beginning in 1880. In 1884 Westmoreland Glass created painting on glass and called it done in the Mary Gregory style; this was again popular in the 1970's. The round butter dish reflects the shapes used prior to cubed butter. I have a nice selection of covered round butter dishes listed here and will combine orders for discount and shipping savings to allow you to expand a collection.
