This impressive covered butter dish is 8 1/2" high at the top of the kneeling Indian on the cover. This design has been called Westward Ho, Indian Tippecanoe, Pioneer and Log Cabin and was first issued in 1879 by Gillinder & Sons glass company. The dish is 7" across with a round base 3 7/8" across. The dish has a ribbed base, scallops around the rim and is clear glass. The cover is both frosted and clear, with the Indian on the top and a log cabin, a buffalo and a running deer around the sides. This is exquisite and will be a topic of conversation when placed in the middle of your table. This dish is believed to be an original because of the detailing on the Native American finial as well as the clarity of the piece and lack of distortion to the lid and landscape. I have a variety of extraordinary pieces listed here, and will combine orders for discount and shipping savings.
