This wood block print is 8"x 12", with frame, 12 1/2"x 15". This is entitled "Maiko Girl Doing Flower Arrangement" and is by Sadanobu Hasegawa. The Maiko girl, an apprentice Geisha, is arranging flowers in a woven vase; she has turned away from the arrangement and is looking off to her left. The artist Sadanobu Hasegawa (1881-1962) belonged to a famous family of woodcut artists who worked in Kyoto, Japan. The picture was framed in Singapore in 1985 as stamped on the back, and has a paper sticker put on by the Uchida Art Co Ltd of Kyoto, Japan as well as a partial page about the process of making a wood block print.
