This pair of Riedel glass vases just shouts quality. The children are done in a Kate Greenaway style of decoration. They are lovingly hand decorated with very fine detail. The boy appears to be doing something to fishing line and the girl is sitting in a pasture with a flower basket. The bases feature a cut and polished pontil. This pair of vases is very unusual in it's subject matter. You can find other glass ware featuring children or toddlers but it's generally done in the un-detailed Mary Gregory style of decoration, not this finely detailed color artistry. I spent a few days looking for similar vases as comparisons and there just are none. If you're looking for fine and unique in a form that captures the innocence of the days gone by look no further, you've found your glass! this are smaller vases at 5.5 inches tall and 3 inches across. the gold on the rim is a little worn but otherwise these are in great condition. No chips or cracks. These would date to the 1870's give or take ten years."
