This Very Rare Exquisite French Napoleon the III sewing Etui. This is a miniature child's version of the Grown-up sewing etui C. 1850. One may never see another of these again! Made of gorgeous blue opaline glass set in an ormolu frame, the egg features tassels on either side and a flower shaped base. The base is attached to a slice of marble. The surprise is when the egg is opened to reveal the tiniest, perfect, doll size sterling silver sewing tools fit for the child's bru dolls! They have fitted compartments and are still held perfectly in place...the interior is virtually untouched condition. Obviously, this little lady's bru had no interest in sewing. You can see the scale of the tools compared to the tape measure. An amazingly sweet piece in excellent condition and oh so rare. We've never seen another doll sized version Have You? What A hidden GEM!! The etui measures 3 1/2" high by 4" wide tassel to tassel. The rarest Doll collector's dream.....Circa 1850 The opaline glass has no cracks or chips. On the marble slice there is a small repair long ago, it is extremely solid just mentioned for accuracy. in amazing antique condition!
