Here is the most Gorgeous 17" French Fashion! She is so striking, and what is more, she carries the prestigious stamp from the famous 19th century French boutique "Au Magasin des Enfants". Her blue eyes are mesmerizing! Everything about her bisque head is just so pretty! She has her pale blond mohair hair in an up swept arrangement. Her wig is tightly attached so it is not possible to remove without damage. I have looked all about her head and shoulder with a black light do not find any hairlines or repairs, just a small nick on the under side of her left earlobe that is shown in photo and an in-the-making short firing mark just below that ear. The shine is glue residue. She has a sturdy kid body that displays patching here and there and shows a bit of age. There is slight crouching but not particularly of notice when she is dressed. Her hands have all fingers present, fair condition overall. The first photo shows her in her fantastic underwear suite and she would look great displayed in just this!!!
Clothing "as is". She has what was once an out of this world fancy silk gown but is now quite shredded and in poor condition. Her gown is encrusted with heavy applique (which remains in good condition), lace and ribbons. Like the ladies of that era, her gown is meant to hug her body and so is hand sewn to her over the many layers of detailed underwear--cotton pantaloons, chemise, slip, elaborate trained slip with sewn bustle ruffles, and trained crinoline support. All underwear pieces are aged and could use a delicate wash. There is a split in the pantaloon fabric in one place that needs a mend and some separations in the crinoline. The crinoline is interesting in that it is a half crinoline made specifically to support the gown's train. It has a waist band that buttons at the waist. Her gown is badly shredding as is the lining, but there is enough remaining to use as a pattern, or if very clever, perhaps restore with the addition of sturdier antique materials, perhaps from an antique wedding gown. I have a few more photos that show the gown's condition that I can send as there was no room to show them here. She also has her stockings and silk shoes--only the decorative buckle seems in good shape while the rest of the shoe has shredded and will be best with recovering.
