Another lovely find! This Fleur de Lis (the insignia of French Royalty) in is PRISTINE condition and such a lovely piece of antique jewelry. On the back it has the classic "C" clasp that closes so you won't lose it, and a hook for attaching a lady's pocket watch or a pretty pendant (see the second to the last photo). It is gold filled which was a process by which a thin sheet of gold was rolled onto both sides of a sheet of sterling silver and then formed into jewelry. Unlike electro-plating, it is permanent. The brooch measures 1" from top to bottom and 1" wide at the widest part. It is stamped by the maker on the back along with the gold content. Just a lovely item to make a chatelaine, a watch pin, or a pendant pin for your doll or for YOU!
