French Fashion Doll ULTIMATE Accessory for a Bru SMILER!
A 30 day layaway available. This item was found in France, but will be mailed from the USA to save you loads on postage. We about fainted when we opened this antique gold-washed album pendant! Inside are EIGHT photos of the royal Imperial family! The Empress Eugenie was the inspiration for the BRU SMILER French fashion doll. This is an early album, because the Prince Imperial is still a little boy in a sailor suit! The date would be circa 1870s. Eugenie was the wife of Napoleon III, the daughter of the Spanish ambassador, and the grand-daughter of an American socialite! She was as beloved by the French people as was Princess Diana to the British. She is dressed in a riding habit. Other members of the royal family include her uncle by marriage, Napoleon Bonaparte, her husband Napoleon III, Queen Hortense and the Princess Murat and her father and brother. The album itself is beautifully engraved with roses inside an elaborate cartouche and the "spine" of the album has been cast and engraved to resemble an actual book. The album closes with a tiny latch. This RARE treasure measures 1" square and is 1/8th inch thick. There is a tiny hole at the top of the album where a jeweler could attach a bale so the album could be worn as a pendant. I think it is even more beautiful to display on a parlor table or on milady's vanity. The only thing even close to this that we have ever found was a bone/ivory French fashion doll pair of opera glasses with a stanhope of Napoleon inside at a French auction. It sold for over $400! If you love history and your doll would love a treasured memory from the past, this is the perfect item to add to her trousseau!
