This is a circa 1900 Art Nouveau lidded inkwell featuring a portrait quality sculpted head of a woman. Her head doubles as a cover to the inkwell. It's style suggests that it originated on the continental side of the Atlantic perhaps France or Austria. It is without a maker's mark. It has outstanding patina of green, brown and in places red accents. It measures 9 1/2" L X 4 1/2"W X 2 1/2" H. There is ample room on either side of the woman's head for small items such as earring's, rings on a dressing table or paper clips on a desk.
