A fabulous vintage 1950's Carryall encased in high luster mother of pearl with no case metal visible except around the edges. The double entry opens to two sides – one has a money clip. The other side has a powder compartment with a spring hinged latching cover, a compartment for change or a few cigarettes (before filters) and a bevel edged mirror in the lid. One end of the carryall holds a lipstick tube.
Gold tone snake wrist chain. Original powder, screen and puff.
Case measures 4″ long without lipstick or 4 5/8″ with lipstick tube x 3″ high x 1″ thick. Gold tone snake wrist chain has a 3 3/8″ hang.
Beautiful overall condition. All mother of pearl tiles are perfect – no chips, cracks or buffs. Nacre is lovely with high luster pastel hues. Mirror is in very good condition with very slight clouding along one side and corner. Scratches to the lipstick tube which is probably a replacement from the 1950’s. It still has lipstick which is lifted by turning the tube base. All hinges and latches work perfectly.
Carry-alls were the rage in the 1940’s. The were always pricey but such a chic way to carry everything essential for a night on the town.
