An exceptionally lovely antique amphora shaped vase that is masterfully hand-painted in a tangle of wild rose blooms. One side is painted in deep, rich hues and the other side in whisper soft pastels. The floral work is primarily set on a background of barely there yellow and blues. The inside of the mouth is gold gilded.
The two handled vase has a neck that is considerably narrower than the body (amphora). Back marks including artist marks are difficult to discern. The piece dates to the very early 1900s and is attributed to German origin.
Stands 8-1/2 inches high and is 5-1/4 across at widest girth.
The vase is in excellent condition. No chips, cracks or repairs. Very light wear to gold gilding on mouth interior. Paint on exterior is pristine and beautifully done.
An absolute beauty.
