A beautiful mid-century modern Winfield China Gravy Boat that captures the best of modern design aesthetics. In a brush stroke white bamboo leaf pattern on sky blue, called, “Blue Pacific”. The pattern was introduced in 1949. This piece is difficult to find.
Blue back mark reads, “CALIFORNIA – Winfield - HAND CRAFTED CHINA – MADE IN USA”.
The dish measures 9" long from handle to spout and is 3.5" across. 4.75″ to top of handle.
Condition is pristine (mint really) with no chips, cracks, crazing, scratches or other wear.
What a great example of mid-century California pottery.
HISTORIQUE: The studio and clay-working school named Winfield Pottery was founded in 1929 in Pasadena by Leslie Winfield Sample. The company moved to Santa Monica in 1946 and continued production until 1962.
The company produced a line of distinctive modernist California art pottery.
