A whimsical piece, it bears the mark "Germany 2502" and was purchased in Belgium. We picture this charming caniche/poodle on a gilt presentation stand, the stand is not for sale.
She sits very straight and tall, holding a little basket carefully in her teeth. She stoically guards three little cochon/pigs. She is of porcelain with delicately painted detailing in a French blue bow, gilded pigs and sage green leaves. Her facial features are simple but expressive. She stands on a little platform of which the top is painted orange. She has a textural form, you can clearly feel and see the "locks" of her coiffure and the fluffy strands of her tail.
The little basket has ribbing and you can clearly see the little ears and snouts of the pigs.
The figure stands 6 1/2" tall, 5 1/2" wide at the base and 2 1/4" deep at the base. She remains in very good condition, with no visible chips or cracks.
She would make an amusing companion atop an antique desk or vanity table.
