This lovely chest of drawers has multiple elements which combine to create an exceptional piece. The original green (and blue) painted finish has elaborate flourishes in the monograms, date of 1791, and highly decorated drawers which are trimmed in old brick red paint. Even the sides portray a lovely floral motif. It is rare to find a highly painted chest of drawers of this age. The addition of 4 cabriole feet and curved skirted base add to the romance of this piece which will also serve well as a nightstand or small side table. This small chest of drawers has been professionally restored and waxed, it is strong and all the drawers function. Old nicks, scratches etc. are commensurate with age; the drawers reveal old repair with a strip of wood filling the age-related separation of planks that form the bottom of each drawer. Truly a rare find, this highly painted small chest of drawers will be a lovely addition to one's home.
