I am intrigued by antique "question mark" jewelry. I have never seen a reference to it in antique jewelry books but it was definitely a "thing" in late Victorian times. I presume it was a gift to a sweet heart to ask "Will you be mine?". This is a lovely example of that symbolic inquiry. It is made of a lovely rich rose gold set with half pearls and a deep red rose cut 4 mm Bohemian garnet. There is an indecipherable hallmark on the "c" catch but the piece acid tests as 14K. It measures just under 1 3/4" long by 5/8" wide at its widest point. It weighs 3.5 grams and is in beautiful condition with all of its original pearls intact. Circa 1890.
