Easily among the most revered of French silversmith families, the name Froment-Meurice continues to echo throughout each passing year. Francois-Desiree the most renowned, who became a legend in his own time. He was then followed by his son. Emile, carried on his father's work and became a highly respected craftsman in his own right. The bonbon scoop and fork here produced by Emile. Made from .950 sterling silver coated with 18k gold, the pieces are in very good condition. The twisted chased handles, representing twining vines, terminate in a splendid heavy mass of ivy leafs with berries and intricately wound vines. The business ends of both are elegant and simple, they do not distract from the sumptuous ivy laden handles. Both are punched with the Minerve 1st titre, .950 silver guarantee, as well as the maker's punch. A beautiful pair, with the added appeal of historical importance. These pieces are rare.

Dimensions: the bonbon scoop is 6" long, 1.75" at the widest. Weight is 40 grams. The fork is 5.75" long and 1.25" at the widest point. Weight of the fork is 34 grams. Combined weight 74 grams.
