Excellent pair of ice cream servers comprised of mother of pearl handles, the service ends entirely formed of sterling silver with gold (vermeil) accents. The service ends are finely engraved with sumptuous neo-Renaissance decoration. The designs feature whimsical winged creatures: an ebullient dragon on the spoon and a tusked fellow reminiscent of Lewis Carrol, each surrounded by strapping, scrolling acanthus leafs, bell flowers, and acorn boughs. The ferrules lovely confections with four beaded scrolling acanthus leafs wrapping the pearl handles. Of special note is the weight and heft of these pieces. The spoon and slice perfectly crafted for utility as well as elegant beauty. The silver is thick, the pearl handles remarkable in size. Both pieces bear the Minerve 1st titre, guarantee that the metal is .950 parts sterling silver. And the maker's signature engraved is engraved clearly on both pieces as well. Truly an elegant serving set that will impress and delight your guests, or the recipient of these as a gift. The set would after all, be a magnificent wedding gift, or a gift for a special birthday.
Dimensions: The slice is a generous 11.5" long, 1.75" at the widest and weight is 145 grams. The spoon is 9 7/8" long, 1 7/8" at the widest and weight is 160 grams. Marks as noted above.
