Antique French Ruby Red Enamel Opera Glasses with Mother of Pearl & Ormolu

An exceptional pair of 19th century French opera glasses featuring exquisite enamel artistry. The translucent ruby red ground is richly embellished with hand applied iridescent foil enameled flowers. The opera glasses are faceted with luxurious mother of pearl eyepieces, adjustment gauge, and extending lorgnette handle.

These fine opera glasses are in very good condition with no chips or cracks. The enamel barrels have three internal lines below the surface. These cannot be felt, and likely occurred during the firing process. There is also a tiny internal mark at the base of the enamel lorgnette handle that is barely visible. Beautiful 19th century French enameled opera glasses are highly collectible today.
