Antique French Enamel Jewelry Box with Jeweled Beading and Ormolu Mounts, Cobalt Blue
France, 19th century
This elegant and diminutive French enamel jewelry casket is gracefully crafted in stunning detail with hand applied raised jeweled beads on a rich cobalt blue ground. The blue ground color combined with the delicate gilt accents and raised enamel dots is characteristic of the work of the French enamellists residing in Sevres and Bresse. This intricately hand enamelled box is of exceptional quality.
The enamel is in exceptional condition with no cracks, hairlines or restorations. There is a tiny sliver of missing enamel beneath the upper ormolu rim (barely visible) and a few missing jeweled beads. The original tufted silk lining shows age related wear. This richly embellished jewelry casket will add beauty to any French enamel collection.
