Signed Renoir Copper Heavy Links Choker Necklace 50's Modern
Great mid-century modern copper necklace by Renoir with simple yet very substantial interlocking flattened tops chain links. These heavy style pieces are from the mid 1950's. Choker length, measures 15 1/2 inches long, including clasp, 1/2 inches wide. Marked Renoir on clasp, which functions perfectly. Weighs approximately 8 oz. Excellent vintage condition. Gorgeous original patina. Classic design then, so stylish and collectible again now! Jerry Fels and two partners started the Renoir company in Hollywood, California, in 1946. Originally named "Renoir of Hollywood" the name was changed in about 1948 to "Renoir of California". During the Korean War copper and aluminum were used together for a brief time. The mark "Hand Made Renoir of California" was used from 1952-1954, and "Renoir" was used thereafter.
