Avocado and White Lotus Cathrineholm Salad Serving Bowl
Here's a fabulous, vintage 1960s glossy avocado green and white enamel on stainless steel Cathrinehom large serving or salad bowl. With an iconic modernist design by Grete Prytz Kittelson and the highly sought after lotus pattern interpreted by Arne Clausen. A great mid-century modern collectible and so hard to find!
It measures 5” tall and 11” in diameter across the top rim. The exterior is clean and shiny, but there is unfortunately one large chip to the enamel 3” from the of the bottom of the base. Clean green interior in near perfect condition with no discoloration or scratches but a slight chip on the inside of the outside chip. Otherwise no flaws I can find. See pics. Still displays great if turned to the wall on your kitchen shelf and functions beautifully. Priced accordingly.
Ultimate Scandinavian Style. Made in Norway. Grete Prytz Kittelson was born in Oslo, Norway and educated in Paris and at the Art Institute in Chicago. Renowned for her work with stainless steel and enamel for Cathrineholm, she carried on a rich tradition as the granddaughter of the legendary Norwegian designer Jacob Tostrup.
Grete received most of the credit for the massive success of Cathrineholm’s lotus line. She was responsible for the form and colors of the pieces and also developed the enamel coating used by Cathrineholm in all of their lines. But these pieces are designer Arne Clausen's legacy as well, since he was the one who actually designed the lotus pattern that made Grete's beautiful pieces so irresistible.
